My mother died of pancreatic cancer and my only brother of glioblastoma multiforme (brain tumor). My mother was in her 70, but my brother was only 50 when he died. I am 51 and I'm more about my chances of developing cancer of the pancreas troubles and whether they demonstrate the tumor marker for this disease.

ReplyDeleteThey say that 1 will be inherited in 10 cases because of an abnormal gene. People with a close relative - father or brother - a cancer of the pancreas have a higher risk, but if someone was in the family (besides his mother, where applicable), it is unlikely to have been caused by an abnormal gene.
